Reporting to the Financial Controller with one direct report, this is a broad SME Finance Manager role working in the core operational finance area. The role includes working with external advisers, such as our auditors and tax advisers, as well as relevant teams within Kroll.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for the Board and Executive team
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Group’s accounting records and financial systems
- Assist the Financial Controller with effective management of working capital
- Review of payroll (both UK and US) to ensure accuracy prior to payment being made
- Calculation of commission and bonus
- Working with the business to understand headcount requirements, preparing a headcount budget, ongoing forecast and monitoring against these
- Linked to the above, maintaining an accurate payroll P&L and cash flow forecast
- Feed into the budget, forecasts and business plan processes as relevant, including continued monitoring & review of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances
- Ensure returns for Corporation tax, US Sales and Use tax, and all other relevant compliance requirements are submitted, payments made on time and all relevant regulations are complied with
- Responsibility for overseeing the month end billing process and ensuring accurate revenue recognition for all contracts
- Responsibility for review of relevant month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts
- Assist with the development and monitoring of Internal Controls and continuous process improvement
- Effectively manage the Credit Controller
- Assist with the management of relationships with auditors, tax advisers, banks and other parties as directed by the Financial Controller
- Keep stakeholders up to date on progress against agreed budgets and targets
- Undertake any other duties as required
Essential skills
- Qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent, accountant with proven experience in a similar broad management and financial accounting role within an SME or who is looking to make for their first move into industry from practice
