Finance Manager (6 month contract)

Location: Leeds, United Kingdom

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller this is a broad SME Finance Manager role working in the core operational finance area. The role includes working with external advisers, such as our auditors and tax advisers as well as working on a day-to day basis with our UK and US banks.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Assist with the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for the Board and Exec. team
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Group’s accounting records and financial systems
  • Assist the financial controller with effective management of working capital
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans and continued monitoring & review of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances
  • Ensure returns for Corporation tax, VAT and all other relevant compliance requirements are submitted, payments made on time and all relevant regulations are complied with
  • Fixed asset management
  • Responsibility for all journals and final GL balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts, including bank reconciliations
  • Responsibility for the month end billing process and ensuring accurate revenue recognition for all contracts
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of Internal Controls and continuous process improvement
  • Effectively manage, motivate and develop the Finance Assistant
  • Assist with the management of relationships with auditors, tax advisers, banks and other parties as directed by the Financial Controller
  • Work across the business, including with budget holders, to assist in the management and monitoring of spend, including setting and then reporting against budgets.
  • Keep stakeholders up to date on progress against key milestones
  • Undertake any other duties as required


In order to be successful in this role you will need:

  • Newly/Part qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) accountant with proven experience in a similar broad management and financial accounting role within an SME or who is looking to make for their first move into industry from practice
